Zalgiris Kaunas becomes first EuroLeague team to three wins

Zalgiris Kaunas continued its impressive start in the EuroLeague and remained undefeated in the competition.

The Lithuanians defeated Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade (69-75) and earned their third straight road win.

Zalgiris became the first team to reach three wins in the EuroLeague this season.

The visitors kept the Serbians to just two points in the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter and never looked back.

The hosts failed to make a comeback and, therefore, suffered a painful home loss.

Lukas Lekavicius (16 points) and Joffrey Lauvergne (12, along with eight rebounds) led the winners in scoring. Jordan Loyd paced Zvezda with 19 points.

Zalgiris is on top of the EuroLeague with a 3-0 record, with Crvena Zvezda now being at 1-2.

Anadolu Efes put an end to a two-game losing streak and claimed its first victory in the EuroLeague.

The Turks dominated ALBA Berlin and earned the 72-93 road triumph.

Thanks to a 0-12 run early in the game, the visitors took control and never looked back.

The Germans attempted to come back to the game, but never recovered after that and suffered their third straight defeat.

Tibor Pleiss had a game-high 23 points for the winners, while Vasilije Micic added 13 and a career-high 13 assists. On the other hand, Markus Eriksson led ALBA in scoring with 13.

Efes improved to 1-2 in the EuroLeague standings, whereas ALBA dropped to 0-3.

Barcelona bounced back from last week’s EuroLeague loss to Zenit Saint Petersburg and returned to the winning track.

The “Blaugrana” edged Valencia at La Fonteta (66-71), thanks to a 0-16 run between the final two quarters.

Five players scored in double figures for the winners, with Rolands Smits having a game-high 15 points.

Star forward Nikola Mirotic did not play for the visitors, as he tested positive for the coronavirus a few days ago.

Nikola Kalinic and Bojan Dubljevic had 13 points apiece for the losing squad.

Both teams now have identical records (2-1).

The games between ASVEL Villeurbanne and Panathinaikos and (between) Baskonia and Zenit Saint Petersburg did not take place, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Multiple players from Villeurbanne and Zenit tested positive for the virus, leaving the respective teams without the minimum eight players on the Authorisation List fit to play.

A procedure has been opened for both cases that will be evaluated by the Disciplinary Judge who will make a decision in due course in accordance with the 2020–21 Euroleague Basketball Special Regulations due to COVID-19.
