Getting Ready for the Upcoming Big Dance – Here’s What to Expect

The NCAA’s “Big Dance” is almost ready to kick off this year’s tournament. For those of you who are patiently awaiting the March Madness bracket, you won’t have to wait much longer. As you may already know, Selection Sunday begins on March 13, when 68 teams that will participate in the tournament will be announced.

The First Four games will start on March 15 and 16, and it will keep going until the Final Four that will be played on April 2nd and 4th. Even though we don’t know the teams yet, we do know where the games will take place and when. Therefore, if you’re getting ready for the upcoming Big Dance, here are a few things you should expect.

March Madness and the big dance

Looking back at the previous year

Last year’s Big Dance was full of upsets starting with unexpected yet amazing 12 wins by lower-seeded teams. There were fourteen upsets in total by the end of the series, which broke the previous record of thirteen upsets from the tournaments back in 1985 and 2014, respectively.

Moreover, last year’s Final Four game between Gonzaga and UCLA was the first semifinal game that ended in overtime since 1998. Gonzaga took the win in a split second before the buzzer went off but ultimately lost to Baylor Bears, who snatched their very first NCAA championship title. Therefore, expect the unexpected this year.

Who are the top contenders?

Although history isn’t a guarantee for the win this year, we can’t disregard the top contenders or favorites, if you will, for this year’s title. These top five schools have the most tiles in the NCAA Division for Men’s basketball, so you best keep an eye on them.

  • UCLA with eleven titles.
  • Kentucky with seven titles.
  • Indiana with five titles.
  • Duke with five titles.
  • North Carolina with four titles.

Prepare on time

If you want to get tickets for the game, you might as well try to get them now. Last year’s Final Four tickets were available through a process of random selection. You may expect the same this year. NCAA’s official partner, Prime Sport, provides a safe venue for people to trade or sell tickets.

This year’s Final Four games will be played in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. As the tournament progresses, ticket prices may skyrocket up to $15,000 like last year, so make sure you prepare on time.

Conclusion

You never know what to expect from the Big Dance because there are many surprises and unpredictable outcomes each year. The best thing to do is sit back and enjoy the games.
