Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos Athens (Greece-A1) has landed a talented big man in Nigerian-American Gani Lawal (205 cm, Georgia Tech’10). Panathinaikos is currently reeling from injuries to some of its players and are in desperate need for a warm body to fill up their ranks. Lawal just recently left Trabzonspor Basketbol from Turkey’s TBL. He played nine games for them in the EuroChallenge and averaged 9.3 ppg and 5.4 rpg. Lawal also logged some 15 games in the domestic Turkish league and there he averaged 9.9 ppg and 5.8 rpg.
In 2013/14 Lawal briefly signed with the Philadelphia 76ers after being released by VEF Riga (Latvia-LBL). He finally settled in with EA7 Emporio Armani Milano (Italy-Serie A) and there he averaged 6.3 ppg and 4.0 rpg in 24 Euroleague games, as well as 6.6 ppg and 4.1 rpg in the Italian league.
