Alessandro Gentile leaves Panathinaikos

Alessandro Gentile

Alessandro Gentile (200 cm) has decided to remove himself from the Panathinaikos Athens (Greece-A1) roster. The 25-year-old Italian played in eight games with Panathinaikos in the A1, as well as nine games in the Euroleague. He came off the bench for the team while averaging 5.8 ppg and 2.5 rpg in just 14.6 mpg. Panathinaikos went on to win the league cup this season with the help of Gentile.

He joined Panathinaikos in December after leaving EA7 Emporio Armani Milano (Italy-Serie A). Gentile had been playing with the Italian team since December 2011 and averaged 9.5 ppg with 3.8 rpg in the Serie A this year. Milano went on to win the Supercup this year and the league awarded Gentile with All-Italian Serie A first team honors. Italy is where he’s spent most of his career, so look for a move back to his home country in the near future.
