VTB United League: top 2 win

VTB United LeagueRound 17 of the VTB United League Regular Season saw CSKA Moscow consolidate its position at the top of the standings with a roaring home success over Vita Tbilisi. Behind CSKA in second place, Unics Kazan kept pace with a clinical win against Tsmoki-Minsk, showcasing some solid offence in the process.

Also in good attacking mood was Enisey, the club smashed a century of points in front of its home fans to record a breezing win over VEF Riga.

CSKA Moscow vs. Vita Tbilisi, 98-62
CSKA has still only lost once in the VTB United League season and the five time and reigning champs looked untouchable again on Sunday with a big win over Tbilisi to make it 14 successive wins. The hosts controlled the game from start to finish and led by as much as 41 points at one stage, while draining 46 points in the paint to control the key area.

Nando De Colo led CSKA with 20 points and 7 assists, while Nikita Kurbanov added 16 points and Ivan Lazarev 15 points. Viktor Khryapa scored 11 points in the win and Dmitry Kulagin plundered 10 points.

Omar Thomas topped the losing effort with 18 points, while he made it a double-double performance by adding 15 rebounds. Andre Jones was good for 12 points and Vladislav Starateleve hit 11 points.

Tsmoki-Minsk vs. Unics Kazan, 77-102
Unics Kazan swamped Tsmoki-Minsk on the road to keep pace with CSKA Moscow at the top of the VTB United League standings, moving to 14-2. A consistent attacking display meant the visitors scored 52 points in the first half and 50 points in the second. It was a rate that Minsk could not live with as Unics managed to dominate large periods of the game.

Artsiom Parakhouski led seven Kazan players in double figures with 16 points, followed by Arturas Milaknis with 15 points. Valery Likhodey struck 12 points, Keith Langford 11 points, while Anton Ponkrashov, Konstantinos Kaimakoglou, and Petr Gubanov all scored 10 points.

Justin Grey topped the hosts with 14 points, with Anthony Hilliard and Branko Mirkovic scoring 13 points apiece.

Enisey Krasnoyarsk vs. VEF Riga, 110-65
Enisey turned it one in front of its home fans and completely destroyed visiting VEF Riga with a display of attacking prowess and defensive steadiness. It was the club’s most complete performance of the season as its starts combined for 69 points and scored 42 points in the paint. A massive second quarter saw the hosts pour in 40 points and stop Riga at 9, it was the impetus that allowed Enisey to run away with the game in the second half.

David Kennedy scored 18 points for the winning effort, while Artem Yakovenko scored 14 points. Delroy James, Vladimir Pichkurov, and Tim Ohlbrecht were all good for 13 points for Enisey.

Francisco Cruz also managed 18 points for Riga, followed by Josh Harrellson with 11 points.
