Vinny Del Negro out as Clippers’ coach

The Los Angeles Clippers decided not to offer head coach Vinny Del Negro a new contract. The team failed to build on their gains from last season’s playoff run. The franchise wants to keep their star point guard, Chris Paul, happy and interested to sign a long-term deal with the team as he hits unrestricted free agency.

The Clippers are looking at Memphis coach Lionel Hollins as a potential candidate to fill the position. Stan Van Gundy was originally one of their targets, but the former Heat and Magic coach has recently publicly stated that he will not be coaching this upcoming season. Golden State Warriors’ assistant Mike Malone is an option and so is Byron Scott, both of whom worked with Chris Paul in the past.
