Valencia hands Real Madrid second straight EuroLeague defeat

Valencia remained undefeated in the EuroLeague after dominating Real Madrid on the road (77-93).

Valencia improved to 2-0 in the standings, whereas Real dropped to 0-2. This is the first time the “Whites” start a EuroLeague season with two straight losses.

Bojan Dubljevic led the winners with 24 points, while Mike Tobey added 14 and Nikola Kalinic 10, respectively.

Walter Tavares had a team-high 15 points for Real, as Facundo Campazzo contributed 14. Rudy Fernandez and Trey Thompkins posted 12 each for the hosts.

The visitors were in front by five at halftime (39-44) and completely took over the game in the second half.

Playing excellent on both ends, they crushed their opponents (51-68) and led by as many as 25 in the contest (55-80).

Consequently, they triumphed over the “Whites” and remained on top of the EuroLeague standings.

On the other hand, Real has made a poor start in the EuroLeague and will try to turn things around next week, in the first double-round week of the season.

Fenerbahce maintained their perfect start after their hard-fought victory over rivals Anadolu Efes (71-80).

Fenerbahce is unbeaten in the EuroLeague (2-0), whereas Efes remained winless after the first two rounds (0-2).

The visitors had a nine-point lead at halftime (41-50), yet the hosts remained alive until the end.

Fenerbahce stood tall, though, and earned a huge road win in the EuroLeague.

Nando De Colo (20 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals) and Lorenzo Brown (17) led the way for the winners.

Krunoslav Simon was the best player of Efes, with 24 points and five assists. Rodrigue Beaubois (11) was the only other player to score in double figures for the hosts.

In a tough contest between two EuroLeague powerhouses, CSKA Moscow edged Maccabi Tel-Aviv at home (76-72).

Mike James (25 points) and Will Clyburn (19) were the reason for the Muscovites’ win over the Israelis.

The impressive duo combined for to 25 of CSKA’s 31 fourth-quarter points to help their team seal the deal.

Scottie Wilbekin led Maccabi with 20 points and five assists, Tyler Dorsey added 16 and Ante Zizic 13 points, along with nine boards.

Both teams now have identical records in the EuroLeague (1-1).
