Uros Tripkovic retires at 28

Uros TripkovicUros Tripkovic (197 cm) has decided to call time on his professional Basketball career because of persistent injuries. The Serbian player came to what must have been a heart-breaking decision at the young age of 28 and will now pursue a career off the hardwood.

“I have definitely ended my professional career! That’s it… Twice I injured the cartilage in the hip with where I had a problem, I thought long and realized the risk was too big.

If I wanted to go back, I would have to spend at least a year in a worse club. Again, there is always the possibility that the injury will recover, but I have two children, and for them and for me, health is the first place” – Tripkovic speaking to Serbian outlet Telegraf.

Uros Tripkovic was once considered one of the most promising players in Serbian Basketball and while he struggled to live up to that early potential he did grow into his career. Making his name with BC Partizan Igokea Beograd (Serbia, A League), the guard later moved to Unicaja Malaga and Valladolid in the Spanish ACB. He featured extensively in the Euroleague through his playing days and later played for Fenerbahce (Turkey, TBL) and Vanoli Cremona in the Italian Serie A.

We wish Uros well with his future endeavours.
