Turkish Airlines EuroLeague: Olympiacos thwarts CSKA

A top of the standings Turkish Airlines EuroLeague between Olympiacos and CSKA Moscow ended in success for the Greek team as Round 13 ended on Wednesday. Elsewhere, Khimki claimed a home win over Anadolu Efes, while Milan picked a rare win with success over Baskonia.

Khimki Moscow Region vs. Anadolu Efes Istanbul, 86-68

Khimki bounced back from a loss to defeat Anadolu Efes, which allowed the team to move to 8-5 in the standings. Efes is really struggling this Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and now sits bottom of the standings at 3-10, albeit with the same record as Valencia. After a strong first quarter, Khimki got to halftime with a 37-33 lead. Efes won the third act 20-23 to make it 57-56 through thirty minutes, but from there the guests collapsed. A 29-12 fourth quarter followed as Khimki raced to victory.

Olympiacos Piraeus vs. CSKA Moscow, 88-86

The game we have been waiting for, a clash between two multiple former Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champs who the best clubs this season. A week after giving CSKA top spot, Olympiacos bounced back from a loss to defeat the Moscow giant and tie the standings at 10-3 at the top. The visitors led 45-48 through half time. That advantage was extended to four at 64-68 with 10 minutes to play, but Olympiacos rallied in the fourth act to steal the game in the closing seconds.

Milan vs. Baskonia Vitoria, 92-85

Milan collected a much-needed victory over Baskonia to move to 4-9 alongside Barcelona. Baskonia on the other hand drops to 6-7 in mid-standings. The hosts had to score big for large parts of the game to keep up with a strong Baskonia offence. Milan drained 76 points in thirty minutes before slowing down in a tense fourth quarter. The home team has a 19-point lead after thirty minutes, but Baskonia raced back in the fourth frame. Ultimately, Milan held on.
