Tony Mitchell (198 cm, University of Alabama’12) has been tabbed by Cairns Taipans in the Australian NBL for the season. The American joins the franchise after last spending time with Hapoel Eilat (Israel-Winner League). Tony Mitchell played five games in Eilat and took averages of 8.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
The small forward never really got going in Israel, but when he does, Mitchell is a dangerous scorer. Indeed, his statistics from a 2016 stint with Xianglan in the Chinese NBL are quite remarkable. Over 27 games, he produced 42.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. His excellent double-double averages made him the best scorer in the league, and the fifth best in assists and steals.
Previously, the 27-year old has played in Spain, Russia, Italy, and in the NBA for the Boston Celtics.
