Shelden Williams joins Elan Chalon

Shelden Williams joins French squad Elan Chalon (2.06m US College: Duke University) as his first professional team outside the NBA. Chalon has spent the last six years in the NBA, playing for seven different teams, accumulating playing time in 361 regular season games. Last season he played for the New Jersey Nets, averaging 4.6 points and 6 rebounds in 58 games.

He still holds the Duke career rebound and blocked shots records (1,262 and 422). He was voted the Atlantic Coast Conference defensive player of the year in 2005 and 2006 and was named to the All-ACC First team during those two seasons. In 2006 he was named a first team All-American. Chalon was the third player in NCAA history to score 1500 points, grab 1000 rebounds, block 350 shots, and pick up 150 steals.

His NBA career took him to Atlanta for two seasons, Sacramento for two seasons, Minnesota for one, he split time in 2010-11 in Denver and New York and he played in New Jersey in 2011-12. His year in New Jersey was his best as far as playing time goes, starting 35 of the 58 games he played, averaging 22 minutes played per game.
