The host squad Senegal earned the title of U18 AfroBasket for Women Champions with a 55-50 victory over Mali.
Mali got out to an early lead finishing the first quarter up 19-13. Going into the intermission Mali still held a slim lead, 29-28.
Senegal took the lead in the third quarter and went into the final stanza up 40-38 and outscored Mali 15-12 to earn the U18 AfroBasket title 55-50.
Aminat Kamara paced Senegal with a 15 point and 10 rebound performance. Ndeye Dieng dropped in 13 points, Ndeye Fatou Niaye added 10 points.
Senegal’s Yacine Diop was named MVP of the tournament. Rounding out the all-tournament team was Soraya Deghady (Egypt), Mariam Kone (Mali), Aminata Traore (Mali), Hamrouni Houda (Tunisia).
Houda was named high-scorer of the competition with 122 points and top rebounder with 67. Kone was named top three-point shooter.
