Union Olimpija Ljubljana from Slovenia’s Telemach League has fired Head Coach Saso Filipovski. He is being temporarily replaced by assistant coach Mirsad Alilovic.

Filipovski has been with the team since 2011. He guided Union Olimpija to back-to-back Slovenian Cup titles in 2012 and in 2013.

Unfortunately, team management has been unhappy with the team’s losing three out of their last nine games. They are currently in second place with their 6-3 record, behind Krka which has an untarnished 9-0 record. Union Olimpija, however, recently lost to third-place Maribor Messer 67-72 and it was after this game that the team let go of Filipovski.
