Russell Westbrook has Fractured Hand

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s early season outlook just turned from grim to dire. The team was already dealing with the loss of their All-Star forward Kevin Durant who is out with a fractured foot. Their roster situation took a turn for the worse when Russell Westbrook suffered a small fracture to the second metacarpal in his right hand during the Thunder’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

He had initial X-rays taken at Staples Center and returned to the Thunder bench with an ice pack on his hand. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow. He could miss anywhere between 4-6 weeks.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are so injury plagued that they will be eligible to apply for the NBA’s hardship exception. The exception allows a team to add an additional player if it has at least four or more players who will miss a minimum of two weeks.
