Romualdas Petronis axed by Sakalai

Romualdas Petronis, the coach of Lithuanian LKL club Sakalai Vilnius has been removed from his duties after a poor season with the team. The 49-year old joined with Sakalai in the summer of 2012 but he has failed to bring winning Basketball to the club during the season. Sakalai is currently languishing in the one from last position in the LKL standings and Romualdas Petronis has guided the team to a poor 14 losses with just 4 wins to compensate.

The head coach role with Sakalai was the first with a major league team for Petronis since he coached Avtodor Saratov (Russia-B Superleague) during the 2004-2005 season. During the last two campaigns the Lithuanian has been the head coach of NN-Chekhovskie Yastreby Chekhov in the Russian under 23 Youth League.
