Repesa not to be renewed by Unicaja

Unicaja Malaga from Spain’s ACB will be in the market for a new head coach soon. The team will not be renewing the contract of Croatian head coach Jasmin Repesa. Unicaja finished the 2012-13 regular season with a not-too-impressive 18-16 record putting them ninth overall keeping them out of the ACB playoffs.

ACB has strict rules about coaches not having dual functions. Repesa is set to be at the helm of the Croatian National Team for the European Championships. It is was expected that he would be denied a license to coach in the ACB in 2013-14 if he was also going to coach the Croatian national team..

Repesa is at the end of his one-year contract with Unicaja. He had success in the 2011-12 season coaching KK Cibona VIP Zagreb to be the Croatian A1 League Regular Season and Overall Champions.
