Ratiopharm Ulm gets German national team wing Schwethelm on loan

Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds hopeful ratiopharm Ulm has agreed with FC Bayern Munich to take German national team small forward Philipp Schwethelm on loan for the 2012-13 season. Schwethelm (2.00 meters, 23 years old) played a reserve role for Munich last season and averaged 1.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in the Eurocup and 3 points and 2.1 rebounds in the German League. He has also established himself as a regular with the German national team. Last summer Schwethelm was third at EuroBasket 2011 in three-point accuracy at 52.6% en route to 5.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He grew up at RheinEnergie Koln and made his debut in the German first division in 2006, and also played in the Euroleague that season with 5 points per game in two appearances. Schwethelm stayed in Koln until 2009, when he went to Eisbaeren Bremerhaven for three seasons. In his final season there, he averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 36 German League games.
