Peter Por celebrates after Skolnoki wins the Hungarian Cup – 5/28/2012

Peter Por has been removed as coach of Szolnoki Olaj (Hungary-A Division) and will be placed in a different role within the organization until his contract expires according to the club’s website. Replacing him as head coach will be assistant coach Dragan Aleksic, who will be assisted by Zorn Kmezic.

Szolnoki Olaj is coming off a season in 2011-12 where they advanced to the EuroChallenge Final Four and they won the Hungarian A Division championship two years in a row. This season team management wanted to challenge the club a bit more, so they entered the Adriatic league, where they now sit at 2-9 and at the bottom of the standings.

The new skipper, Aleksic, is no newcomer to Szolnoki as he’s a former player for the club having traded in his court shoes for wingtips and making the transition from on the court to the side of the court as an assistant coach. Aleksic’s old position will be filled by Kmezic, who was the second assistant.

Do they understand that Adriatic is not Eurochallenge in certain way? Or they want to bit Partizan and Crvena?
