Nymburk wins 11th consecutive Czech NBL

NymburkCEZ Nymburk has retained the Czech Republic NBL title once again after cruising through Game 3 of the finals to sweep the series. Nymburk’s staggering dominance of Czech Basketball continues as the club celebrates its 11th consecutive NBL title, a run that stretches back to 2004. A decade of league success was capped when the team defeated BK Orli Prostejov emphatically in Game 3, with the final score standing at 97-63.

Nymburk’s command over the NBL has never been in doubt this campaign as the club capped an unbeaten domestic season to lift the title. The champions had a record of 22-0 during the regular season and took nine straight victories through the playoffs to win the league.

Nymburk put over 30 points on their guests by the final buzzer and the champions got off to a solid start in the first quarter, securing a 25-18 lead after 10 minutes. In the second quarter the hosts took total control of the floor and put 35 points on the board while restricting Protejov to just 15. With the halftime buzzer sounding in the Tipsport Arena the home team held a massive 60-33 lead. The game and the title were both beyond the visitors, but Prostejov did improve in the third quarter, but Nymburk still stole the period 22-21 to lead 82-54 with the fourth quarter to play. During the final 10 minutes the defending champs continued to press and kept the away team to just nine points on the way to another title success.

The winners punished 26 personal fouls committed by Orli by hitting 23 of 29 from the charity strip, picking up 79.3% of all points on offer from the line. Chester Simmons paced Nymburk with 19 points and 6 rebounds, while Rasid Mahalbasic secured 17 points and Vojtech Hruban logged 13 points.

Kamil Svrdlik claimed 13 points and 5 rebounds in the losing effort, with Pavel Slezak picking up 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
