Portsmouth Invitational rosters set

The 61st Annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament tips off next week on Wed., April 11 with 64 invited collegiate basketball players, all of whom are seniors are their respected colleges. The tournament will run Wed., through Sat. and will have scouts from all NBA teams, as well as numerous overseas basketball teams, in attendance. The tournament is a showcase of talent for the clubs, but it also is used as a fundraiser for local charities and a source of $20,000 worth of scholarships for local students.

The tournament breaks the 64 players up into eight, eight-man teams and they play a modified double-elimination tournament which allows for every team to play three games over the four days.
