Montepaschi improves backcourt with Brown

Montepaschi Siena improved its backcourt for the upcoming season by inking point guard Bobby Brown to a one-year deal, the club announced Wednesday. Brown (1.88 meters, 27 years old) arrives from EWE Baskets Oldenburg, where he became the German League’s top scorer at season at 16.1 points per game. He added 2.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists on average in 34 German League games. His previous Turkish Airlines Euroleague experience came in 2010-11, when Brown averaged 10.7 points in 6 games with Asseco Prokom Gydnia. Brown finished the 2010-11 season with Aris BSA 2003, averaging 14.2 points and 3.3 assists in 9 Eurocup games. Brown played the 2007-08 season with Alba Berlin, where he averaged 16 points and 4.2 assists in the Eurocup. He was involved in the longest ever Eurocup game that season – a 141-127 five-overtime Berlin win over KK Bosna in which Brown scored 44 points and forced the first, fourth and fifth overtimes. Brown also helped Berlin win the 2008 German League championship with 13.8 points and 3.7 assists per game. Brown has also played in 113 NBA games for Sacramento, Minnesota, New Orleans and Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 5.1 points and 1.8 assists along the way. He replaces 2011-12 Alphonso Ford Top Scoring Trophy winner Bo McCalebb, who joined Fenerbahce Ulker last week.
