After playing two games for U-Banca Transilvania Cluj (Romania-Liga Nationala), Michael Southall (209cm, Louisiana-Lafayette’06) has been released by the club. The center averaged just 1.5 ppg and 1.5 rpg during his short stint with the team and has now been moved on.
Before heading to Transilvania, the American played three consecutive seasons in Qatar for Al Sadd (D1). During the 2011-12 campaign he impressed with numbers of 15.4 ppg and 10.1 rpg from eleven games. In the 2013-14 term the 32-year old dropped his numbers and recorded 6.9 ppg and 7.4 rpg from sixteen appearances.
Southall had been set to play for the University of Kentucky when he was arrested in May 2000 for delivery and possession of marijuana. He was convicted in 2000, then violated probation and was sentenced to a year in jail.
