Mateusz Ponitka to Oostende

Polish prospect Mateusz Ponitka (196 cm) will play outside of his native country for the first time this season after agreeing a deal with Telenet Oostende (Belgium, Ethias League). The young swingman played for struggling Polish powerhouse Asseco Prokom Gdynia (PLK, Euroleague) last season and continued to build his reputation as one of Poland’s rising stars.

The 19-year old played 34 PKL games throughout the season and averaged 8.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while he also played 10 Euroleague games with averages of 8.8 points and 3.5 rebounds.

During the 2011/2012 season the then 17-year old Mateusz Ponitka showed impressive form with AZS Politechnika Warsaw where he averaged 13.6ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.3apg, and 1.4spg.
