Marvis Thornton picked up by Strasbourg

Marvis Thornton (194 cm, St. John’s’00) has been added by French ProA team Strasbourg IG for the 2013-14 season. Thornton is coming off a two-season stint playing in Italy’s SerieA. The veteran guard played for Banco di Sardegna Sassari in 2012-13.

He appeared in six Eurocup games for Banco di Sardegna and averaged 18.7 ppg and 4.3 rpg. Thornton played in a total of 35 games in the Italian SerieA league and posted averages of 13.1 ppg and 4.2 rpg in 30.5 minutes per game of action.

In 2011-12 he was with Montepaschi Siena, where he played in 11 Euroleague games and averaged 5.4 ppg and 2.8 rpg. Marvis also played in 24 games in the Italian league while posting averages of 7.2 ppg and 2.8 rpg. Unfortunately, his season was cut short after going down to an injury in March 2012.
