Marvin Phillips leaves Lightning for Rouen

Marvin Phillips

French Pro B team SPO Rouen Basket has bought out the contract of Marvin Phillips (201 cm, Claflin’04) from the London Lightning (Canada-NBL). Phillips played 30 games for the Lightning and averaged an impressive double-double with 15.6 ppg and 10.0 rpg. He joined the Canadian club in December of 2012 and helped them win the 2013 Canadian NBL Championship. In 2012-13 he averaged 14.0 ppg and 7.6 rpg and was even selected to participate in the Canadian NBL All-Star Game that season.

“To lose a player of Marvin’s ability is a huge loss for this franchise. He has been a true professional on and off the court for this organization. We wish him all the best in France and he will be welcome back at any time. From a financial perspective, this was a decision Marvin had to make,” said General Manager, Taylor Brown.
