Latvian big man Martins Meiers (208 cm) will get to spread his wings in Germany’s BBL with Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels. The 22-year-old Meiers has played his entire career in his home country, but should be ready to take the next step and be MBC’s new project for the future.
Meiers showed us a promising 2012-13 season despite averaging less than 20 minutes per game playing for BK Ventspils from Latvia’s LBL. In 27 games playing in the Latvian league, Meiers put up averages of 8.6 ppg and 4.2 rpg. He posted similar numbers in the Baltic League where he averaged 8.2 ppg and 3.7 rpg. He was more productive as he represented Ventspils in 12 games in the EuroChallenge, posting averages of 11.0 ppg and 5.4 rpg.
