Maccabi Electra tabs All-Eurocup forward Caner-Medley

One of the best players in the Eurocup is set to make his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut with the announcement that Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv signed power forward Nik Caner-Medley to a two-year deal. Caner-Medley (2.03 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Valencia Basket, where he averaged 13.5 points on 87.2% free throw shooting, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 13 Eurocup games last season, taking Valencia all the way to the title game against BC Khimki Moscow Region. Caner-Medley earned All-Eurocup First Team honors and had an outstanding performance in the final with game-highs of 23 points, 11 rebounds and 38 performance index rating, which tied the record for highest index in a Eurocup title game. Caner-Medley arrived to Valencia from Asefa Estudiantes, where he averaged 12.4 points on 87.8% free throw shooting and 7 rebounds in 14 Eurocup games in 2010-11 and was chosen to the 2010-11 All-Eurocup Second Team. Caner-Medley was also chosen to the 2010-11 All-Spanish League first team after earning Spanish League monthly MVP honors in February, March and April of that season. Caner-Medley has also played in Europe with Germany’s Artland Dragons and for Cajasol and Gran Canaria in Spain. Before that, he had a successful four-year college basketball career at the University of Maryland, where he averaged 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as a senior in 2006. Caner-Medley is now set to test himself against the best power forwards in Europe.
