With first ranked Real Madrid not in action this weekend, it was a chance for the Liga Endesa chasing pack to close the gap on Los Blancos. Surprise package and second-ranked club Tenerife kept up its momentum with a road win over Sevilla, FC Barcelona secured a win over Baskonia Vitoria. It is with Barca that we will start.
Baskonia vs. Barcelona, 84-92
Baskonia handed Barcelona a road beating in the Euroleague on Friday but could not double up on the Catalan giant. Instead, Barca secured a win to keep pace in third place with a 13-4 record. Barcelona has generally managed to avoid bringing its woeful Euroleague form to the Liga Endesa. The guests drained 76 percent, 19-of-25 free throws in the victory, with Tyrese Rice pacing the win with 17 points and 8 assists. Ante Tomic top scored in the win with 21 points, while Johannes Voightmann and Shane Larkin led Baskonia with 16 points apiece.
Sevilla vs. Tenerife, 76-82
Tenerife passed Sevilla to hold sole possession of second place in Liga Endesa with a 14-4 record. Indeed, the club has won as many games as league leader Real Madrid, although the current champs have played one less game. The visitors had managed to carve a 36-40 advantage through the long break, and although it stayed tights in the second half, Tenerife closed out the win. Aaron Doornekamp set the tone in the winning effort with 17 points and 11 boards in a double-double performance.
