Le Mans signs Koffi for two more years
Le Mans Sarthe Basket of France will go to battle in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds behind one of its signature players after signing center Alain Koffi to a new two-year contract on Friday. Koffi (2.05 meters, 28 years old) has spent all but one season of his 10-year pro career with Le Mans, where he arrived as a 14-year-old cadet and debuted professionally at age 18 in 2002. Along the way, they have played three Euroleague seasons together, between 2006 and 2008, in which Koffi averaged 7.4 points and 5.2 rebounds over 34 games total. He and Le Mans have participated together in four Eurocup seasons, going as far as the Last 16 two seasons ago, although Koffi could play only one game of that round due to injury. In the one season of his career played outside Le Mans, Koffi also reached the Eurocup Last 16 with DKV Joventut Badalona of Spain in 2009-10. Since his knee injury in January of 2011, Koffi has not played, but his new contract assures that he will start his second decade as a pro wearing the colors of Le Mans.
