Krunoslav Simon heads to Anadolu Efes Istanbul

Krunoslav Simon (197 cm) is making the move next season to Anadolu Efes Istanbul (Turkey-BSL). Simon is a long-time veteran in the European basketball scene and now goes into his 16th professional season. The first 12 years of his career were spent in his home country with KK Zagreb (Croatia-A1). Following the 2011/2012 campaign, Simon moved away from home to Unicaja Malaga (Spain-Liga Endesa), but just for one season. Simon continued on with Lokomotiv (Russia-VTB) from 2013-2015 and EA7 Armani Milano (Italy-Serie A) into this past year. The 32-year-old Croatian has not exactly ventured the world during his career but his experience in big time leagues is still impressive.

Last season, Simon played well in a role off the bench. The swingman found 25.1 mpg in Serie A play where he scored 12.0 ppg while shooting 41.7 percent from deep. The team went on to have a dominant season, winning the regular-season title as well as the Italian Supercup. Simon played extraordinarily in the finals while coming away with the MVP of the series.

His recent success makes him an exciting addition to his new team. There are already high expectations with Anadolu Efes after going 23-7 last year which put them in third. Simon will enter the starting lineup and bring another light out three point shooter to the roster. The Turkish team was eliminated last season in the semifinals. This addition could help them get past the last hurdle in order to compete for a championship.
