Klavs Cavars signs with Pertevniyal Genclik Istanbul

Klavs Cavars (205 cm) is heading to Pertevniyal Genclik Istanbul (Turkey-TBL). The Latvian center will look to add to Genclik’s big-man depth and help the team finish the season strong. The team currently sits in 15th place with a record of 7-15. Earlier this season, Cavars played 16 games with Canarias (Spain-Division 1) where he averaged 9.2 ppg and 5.2 rpg in 21.8 mpg. This is the first season playing professionally outside of Latvia for the 21-year-old. He played with the U20 national team last season as well as playing in the Baltic league with Liepaja/Triobet (Latvia-LBL). He did not find much playing time with Liepaja but still managed to score 7.5 ppg in 17.5 mpg.
