Josh Powell inks with Guangdong Tigers

Former NBA forward Josh Powell (206 cm, North Carolina State’03) is headed to Asia after signing with Chinese CBA club Guangdong Southern Tigers this 2013-14. Powell was recently waived by the New York Knicks and will look to continue his career abroad.

Josh began the 2012-13 season as a member of the San Antonio Spurs but was waived before the season began. In November 2012 he headed to Greece, signing with Olympiacos S.F.P. Pireus (A1). Powell logged 25 games for the eventual Euroleague Champions and averaged 5.1 ppg and 2.7 rpg. He played in 26 games in the Greek league and averaged 7.8 ppg and 4.4 rpg, helping his team reach the Greek League Finals in 2013.
