Henan Shedianloujiu (China-NBL) has strengthened its roster this 2017 with the recent addition of Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180 cm, CS Fullerton’09). He is a 31-year-old Nigerian-American international player who has been a member of the Nigerian national team since 2006. This is not his first time around the block in China and has seen action in the Chinese CBA in 2014 and 2015. This will be his third team this 2016-17 cycle. He began it playing in Spain for Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (Spain-Liga Endesa). The veteran guard played four games for them in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, where he posted averages of 4.8 ppg and 1.5 apg. Akognon appeared in five games in the Spanish league, there he averaged 12.6 ppg and 1.0 apg.
In November 2016 he headed to Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius (Lithuania-LKL). Josh played five games for them in the EuroCup where he averaged 5.4 ppg and 0.8 apg. In five games in the domestic Lithuanian league Akognon dropped averages of 12.6 ppg and 2.2 apg.
