Joffrey Lauvergne released by Elan Chalon

Joffrey LauvergneJoffrey Lauvergne (210 cm) has been released from his contract by Elan Chalon (France-ProA). In a statement on the team’s website, Dominique Juillot, President of the Elan Chalon, stated that the club had reached a mutual agreement with Lauvergne to part ways so that the organization could focus the rest of the season on younger players to get ready for next year. Juillot conceded that his team is on the brink of elimination in the Euroleague, (unless they win all three of their last matches) so they felt it was time to move in a new direction. Lauvergne has played with Elan Chalon for the past three seasons, averaging 5.5ppg in 11 EuroChallenge contests in 2009-10; 5.8ppg in 32 French ProA games in 2010-11; 5.2ppg in 15 EuroChallenge games and 6.2ppg in 30 ProA games in 2011-12; and thus far this season he has averaged 5.9ppg in seven ProA games and 6.6ppg in 7 Euroleague contests this season. In the three seasons he’s spent with Elan Chalon, he’s been averaging around 16 minutes of playing per contest, very seldom playing more than 20 minutes a game.

I doubt this is the entire story. Odd timing.
