Joan Plaza leaves Zalgiris Kaunas

It was a tearful press conference for Joan Plaza when he announced his departure from B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas from Lithuania’s LKL after just one season with the team. The Spanish coach had a great run in 2012-13. He led the team to win the Lithuanian SuperCup, to be co-Champions of the regular season in the Lithuanian league, and even to go all the way to become the Lithuanian League Champions this 2013 as icing on the cake. You can even throw in his appointment to coach in the Lithuanian League All-star game for good measure.

Plaza is reportedly considering a move to Spain’s Unicaja Malaga from Spain’s ACB. He has yet to sign a deal with them and he stated that he will decide on his future soon.
