Ivan Almeida joins Lille

French ProB team Lille Metropole has announced the signing of Ivan Almeida (198 cm, Stonehill’12) for next season. The Cape-Verdean guard has agreed a contract with Lille after recently departing Portuguese team Vitoria SC/M. Guimares (LPB) where he played 24 games throughout the 2012/2013 season and posted averages of 19.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.

It did indeed prove to be a productive first full season in pro basketball for Ivan Almeida and his 19.0ppg scoring average was the second best in the Portuguese LPB. Before playing with Guimares, Almeida graduated from Stonehill and played with Sampaense also of the LPB where he saw out the remainder of the 2011/2012 season with averages of 13.3ppg, 4.5rpg, and 1.4apg.
