Ilunga Mbenga waived by Qingdao

Ilunga MbengaIlunga Mbenga (214 cm) (also known as DJ Mbenga) has been waived by the Qingao Double Star Eagles (China-CBA) after seven games of the season. Mbenga was a team mate of Tracy McGrady with the Eagles and was the second leading scorer on the team, averaging 13.3ppg and was the leading rebounder at 9.4rpg. Mbenga played in the NBA for seven seasons, being signed as a free agent by the Dallas Mavericks in 2004 to start his NBA career. He played for Dallas, the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Hornets during those seven seasons, winning the NBA title with the Lakers during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. Mbenga has dual citizenship with D.R. of Congo and Belgium and played for the Belgium national team for five seasons.
