Igokea Aleksandrovac defends Bosnian title

Igokea AleksandrovacIgokea Aleksandrovac defeated Siroki Primorka 54-51 to win the Bosnian Division 1, retaining the title the team won last season. The success means the club wins consecutive titles and claims its third Bosnian crown after also winning the league in 2001. The champions lost Game 1 of the series on the road to Siroki, but rallied away from home in Game 2 to take a win and then progress to two straight victories at home.

Game four proved a tight contest as Igokea Aleksandrovac pursued a title winning victory and Siroki attempted to tie the series at 2-2. The hosts started quietly and allowed Siroki Primorka to have the best of the early exchanges, with the visitors leading by four points at the end of the first quarter (13-17). In the second quarter Igokea played more balanced ball and the fans inside the Laktasi Sports Hall were treated to a stern defensive performance. The home team only scored twelve in the frame, but restricted Siroki Primorka to just six points to hold a 25-23 halftime lead. The double title winners extended its lead in the third period and took a four point advantage into the fourth and final quarter (39-35). Siroki fought back to win the final stanza, but not by enough to prevent Aleksandrovac celebrating another Bosnian league success.

Marko Josilo collected a phenomenal double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds for Igokea, while Teddy Gipson supplied 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Robert Rikic picked up a game high 16 points for the losing effort while also grabbing 8 boards. Dalibor Persic aided with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
