Hamed Haddadi headed to Phoenix

The Toronto Raptors have traded Iranian big man Hamed Haddadi (218 cm) and a second-round draft pick to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Sebastian Telfair (183 cm). The emergence of rookie point guard Kendall Marshall (193 cm, North Carolina’12) has left little room for Telfair in the Suns’ rotation. The Raptors, who were looking for a back up for starting point guard Kyle Lowry made the ideal trade partners during the NBA’s trade deadline.

The Suns get a draft pick for future flexibility and Hamed Haddadi who can fill in the void in their front court. While they may or may not retain his services and this move is used to free up salary cap space, the Suns move away from paying luxury tax in the future.
