Greens sign veteran big man Panko

Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four regular Panathinaikos Athens has made its first non-Greek signing for the 2012-13 season a vetaran big man, Andy Panko, who was MVP of the Spanish League last season. Panko (2.06 meters, 34 years old) is coming off a stellar season with Lagun Aro, in which he averaged 18.9 points as the top scorer in the Spanish League. He also ranked in that competition’s top five in fouls shots made (4 pg.), fouls drawn 5.3), minutes played (32) and two-pointers made (5). Panko also averaged 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 assits on his way to becomeing the oldest MVP in recent Spanish League history. Panko has spent almost his entire pro career in Spain after debuting in Europe with Napoli in the Italian second division. He previously played one season for Atlanta in the NBA. Since 2003, he hwas played for Girona, Seville, Bilbao and, for the last five seasons, Lagun Aro San Sebastian. His one stop outside Spain recently was with PAOK of Greece in 2006. He played one Eurocup game only with PAOK. Panko will make his Euroleague debut with Panathinaikos.
