Gal Mekel pens with Reggio Emilia

Gal Mekel (190 cm, Wichita State’08) has agreed to terms with Italian club Gissin Bon Reggio Emilia (Italy-Serie A) and will bolster their backcourt for the 2019-20 season. Mekel is a 31-year-old Israeli international basketball player who has been a member of the Israeli National Team since 2009.

He spent the 2018-19 season playing for Zenit St. Petersburg (Russia-VTB). In seven games in the EuroCup, Mekel posted averages of 7.7 ppg and 6.6 apg. He also logged 20 games in the VTB United League, where he managed to post averages of 7.4 ppg and 4.9 apg.
