Russian club BC Nizhny Novgorod (VTB) has agreed to terms with former NBA guard Gal Mekel (190 cm, Wichita State’08) this 2015. Mekel is an Israeli player who also holds a Polish passport. He most recently played for the New Orleans Pelicans, logging in four games and averaging 1.5 ppg and 3.3 apg as a reserve. It was his third NBA team for 2014/15. He started off with the Dallas Mavericks. The 26-year-old then signed with the Indiana Pacers after his release.

Gal signed with the Mavs in 2013/14, playing 31 games and averaging 2.4 ppg and 2.0 apg. He also spent time with the Frisco Texas Legends of the NBA D-League where he averaged 10.5 ppg and 6.3 apg in four games.
