Brazilian prospect Fabricio Melo (212 cm, Syracuse’12) has been released by NBA franchise the Memphis Grizzlies before playing for the team. The 23-year old center was originally drafted by the Boston Celtics in the summer of 2012 and featured five times for the franchise last season with averages of 1.4ppg from the bench. He was then moved out to the Maine Red Claws in the D-League where he played 35 games and averaged 9.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks (2nd overall) per game.
Fabricio Melo was pre-season traded to the Memphis Grizzlies earlier in the summer but the franchise has decided not to retain his services. That does not mean the NBA dream is over for the Brazilian as there is already talk of other franchises being interested in his signature.
