Euroleague: Viktor Khryapa named QF Game 2 MVP

Viktor Khryapa pieced together another impressive all-around performance Friday in leading CSKA Moscow to a 90-68 rout of Caja Laboral and a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five playoffs series. Khryapa’s strong stat line also resulted in him winning Playoffs Game 2 bwin MVP honors and in becoming the fifth CSKA player to claim bwin MVP honors this season, joining Sonny Weems, Milos Teodosic, Nenad Krstic and Sasha Kaun. Khryapa compiled a performance index rating of 25, which was the best among the 81 players to take the floor in Game 2 of the playoffs. Khryapa compiled 9 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and a block in just 25 minutes for the Russian champs. Real Madrid hero Sergio Llull just missed sharing the top spot with Khryapa after posting a 24 index in a 75-63 victory over Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv. Llull nailed 6 of 8 three-pointers en route to a career-high 26 points for Los Blancos. Khryapa’s teammate Milos Teodosic amassed a 22 index after piling up 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Rounding out the list of the week’s stars are Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos Piraeus, Maciej Lampe of Caja Laboral Vitoria and Zoran Erceg of CSKA, all with index ratings of 21. Spanoulis paced the Reds to a 71-53 win over Anadolu Efes Istanbul with 15 points and 8 assists. Lampe scored 19 and grabbed 6 boards in the defeat to CSKA. And Erceg scored 16 on great shooting numbers.

Individual highs: Sergio Llull of Real Madrid, 26 points

Though he was second in index rating, Llull was the top scorer in all of Playoffs Game 2 with 26 points. Llull is tied with Barcelona Regal’s Juan Carlos Navarro for the playoffs scoring lead with 17 points per game. Anadolu Efes big man Kerem Gonlum hauled in 14 rebounds to lead the Game 2 charts. Gonlum, who also scored 13, also had Game 2’s lone double double. Gonlum and Barcelona center Ante Tomic are tied for the playoffs rebounding lead with 9.5 each. Madrid’s Sergio Rodriguez and Olympiacos’s Spanoulis shared the Game 2 lead in assists with 8 each. Rodriguez’s average of 9 assists per game is most in the Top 16. Five players had 3 steals apiece in Game 2. One of those five, Maccabi’s David Logan, leads the playoffs with 2.5 steals per game. Maccabi swingman Devin Smith rejected 4 shots to position himself as the week’s best shot-blocker.
