Ekenechukwu Ibekwe

Ekenechukwu Ibekwe (207 cm, Maryland ’07) is on his way to join ES Chalon-Sur-Saone (France-Pro A). The move to the French league follows a 16-game stretch with Muratbey Usak (Turkey-BSL). Most of his appearances came in the BSL for 13 games. There, he averaged 5.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 1.5 bpg in just 15.6 mpg. The athletic big man also played with Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt (Germany-BBL) for eight games and seven with CEZ Nymburk (Czech Republic-NBL) earlier this season.

Ibewke now moves the Pro A in France for the first time in his career. He’ll suit up for Chalon who currently sits in second in the Pro A with a 22-7 record. They also competed in the FIBA European cup where they made it to the finals and lost to Nanterre 92 (France-Pro A). The French team adds Ibewke for his defensive presence and experience in Europe. The 31-year-old is in the midst of his ninth season.
