EA7 Emporio Armani Milano picks up Stipcevic at point

Rok Stipcevic - Cibona_30276EA7 Emporio Armani Milano announced the signing of point guard Rok Stipcevic, who has spent the past season and a half in the Italian League with Cimberio Varese. The contract is for one season with an option for the 2013-14 season. Stipcevic (1.83 meters, 26 years old) returns to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague, where he impressed with 10.3 points and 4.1 assists per game for Cibona in the 2010-11 season. His assist totals were among the top 10 in the regular season. Last year Stipcevic accounted for 11.4 points and 3.3 assists in 36 games with Varese. A native of Zadar, Croatia, Stipcevic grew up with hometown KK Zadar, where he played as a teenager until 2010, spare one season on loan to local side Borik Puntamica Zadar. He helped the team win two Croatian championships and one Croatian Cup during his six seasons with the senior team. Stipcevic moved to Cibona that season, where upon impressing coaches and scouts throughout Europe, Varese snatched him up midseason. He has also become a regular with the Croatian national team for whom he appeared at the 2010 FIBA World Championships and EuroBasket 2011.

“For many reasons Rok Stipcevic met our needs in looking for a back-up point guard,” Armani coach Sergio Scariolo said. “His career is still going up. Rok has the hunger needed to keep a healthy competition, good speed and three-point shooting ability to complement Omar Cook. He is capable of aggressively marking the opponent’s ball handler, and for our defensive concepts that is a very important detail. “
