Douglas Spradley leaves Bremerhaven

Douglas Spradley will no longer be head coach at Eisbaeren Bremerhaven after the club announced it would not extend the contract of the American-German. Spradley has been the head coach at Bremerhaven since the start of the 2009-2010 season but a disappointing campaign this season has ensured that the club will now seek a new direction.

Eisbaeren Bremerhaven finished with a losing 15-19 record in the Bundesliga this season as Douglas Spradley coached the team to 11th place in the standings. With no play-offs for this season it appears the front office thinks Spradley has taken the team backwards this year. Before this campaign Spradley’s record was good with Bremerhaven and includes a play-off semi-final and a quarter-final.

“It has been a difficult decision to make. Doug Spradley has done an outstanding job and the Eisbaeren organization is very thankful for that. However, following extensive discussions we have come to the conclusion that it is time to make a change”, Eisbaeren CEO Jan Rathjen stated.
