Philadelphia 76ers Head Coach Doug Collins will not be returning to coach the team for the 2013-14 season. Collins has one year remaining in four-year contract and will be owed $4.5 million. There has yet to be confirmation on whether Collins will remain with the organization next season in another capacity or whether he and the team will reach an amicable buyout settlement.

The team had high hopes after acquiring Andrew Bynum from the Los Angeles Lakers. Unfortunately, Bynum’s bone bruises on both of his knees and his inability to play a single game this season proved that the deal was a bust for the organization. It has been speculated that Collins is not interested in being part of a potentially long drawn out rebuilding process.
