DeShawn Painter (206 cm, ODU’13) has caught the attention of Austrian team WBC Raiffeisen Wels and has been added by the team to bolster their frontcourt this season. Painter began his rookie season in Slovakia’s Extraliga where he played for BK 04 AC LB Spisska Nova Ves. The 23-year-old big man was very impressive in his first five games and was scouted by the Wels. He posted averages of 23.4 ppg and 9.4 rpg. Wels sit comfortably in the number two spot of the Austrian A Bundesliga with a 5-2 record. Painter’s ability to score in the post might be something they can develop and utilize down the road.
