CSKA Moscow to tryout Theo Papaloukas

35 year old free agent guard Teodoros Papaloukas from Greece will practice with Russian Euroleague team CSKA Moscow for a while, with a possibility of signing a contract for the rest of the season.

Papaloukas was one of the star players of CSKA between 2002 and 2008, winning two Euroleague titles (2006, 2008), being named Euroleague Final Four MVP (2006) and Euroleague season MVP (2007). After leaving CSKA Papaloukas played for Olympiakos from Greece and Maccabi Tel Aviv from Israel during the 2011/2012 season.

Ettore Messina, CSKA head coach says:

“We as a club assume that even a team which has won 9 games out of 10 in the first phase of the Euroleague still has a margin to improve. We think that Papaloukas has qualities as a leader and a player to help our team. We have agreed that we will work together for some days to understand if we are on the same page and if it is really the situation we envision. If that’s the case as I hope we will make sure that we will find a spot for him on the roster.”
